John Balash

John Balash, 80, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. Born March 10, 1932 in Allentown he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Fetkovitch) Balash. He was married to his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Sally" (Gregus) Balash for 56 years this past June 2nd.

John began his career as a Meat Cutter for Food Fair later working at various other food markets in the Lehigh Valley retiring from Super Fresh in Walnutport. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. One of John's proudest accomplishments was being named an Allstate Center for William Allen's football team in 1950.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth, sons, Timothy John, David Peter, John Michael and Ronald Paul Balash, brother, Willie Balash, sister, Helen Sweeny, six grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Harding and Anna Heimbach.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-8 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's 801 Osturm St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 or to the American Cancer Society 3893 Adler Place Bethlehem, PA 18017.
