John E. Mendes

John E. Mendes, 75, of Bethlehem Township passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Summit, NJ on November 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Bessa) and Jack Mendes. He was the husband of Jacquelyne-Jo "Jackie" (Searfoss) Mendes.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, John continued to serve his community as a police officer in Maplewood, NJ. He went on to work as a civilian at the Army base at Ft. Monmouth. On June 3, 2019, John was inducted into the NJ Police Honor Legion. John was past vice president of the Rolling Thunder National Chapter. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, passion for helping Veterans in need and being a proud supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital and the Catholic Broadcast Network. Above all, John loved his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 16 years, Jackie Mendes; sons, Jason Mendes and wife Tracey and John Mendes, Jr. and wife Margaret; daughters, Lisa Ann Mendes and Kerry Mendes; sister, Elizabeth Ann Siggins and husband Aaron Siggins; 6 grandchildren - Kailyn Mendes, Jamie Coles, Dylan Coles, Demi Ardic, Cody Ardic & Marissa Ardic; 4 great-grandchildren - Jamie Coles Jr., Dylan Coles Jr., Jayce Coles & Adrian Coles and mother-in-law, Jo Searfoss.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 1st St. Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church
