John Frimenko, Jr.

May 11, 1923 — September 16, 2008

John Frimenko, Jr., 85, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at St.Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John, Sr. and Mary Grundza Frimenko. He was the loving husband of Olga Malchuk Frimenko. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past May.

Mr. Frimenko was a Teacher at Saucon Valley School District for 25 years before retiring in 1980. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a life long member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church of Bethlehem where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Building Committee. He was also a reader and sang and directed the choir.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Olga, of Bethlehem; daughter, Olga, wife of Thomas Karel of Lancaster, PA; sons, Dr. Jacob Frimenko & his wife Danielle of Northville, MI; John Trofim Frimenko of Columbia, PA; brother, Leonard Frimenko of Lancaster, CA; and his seven grandchildren, Anastasia & Nadine Karel, John Thomas Karel, Rebecca, Nika, Hilary & Katya Frimenko. He was preceded in death by his brother, the Very Rev. Michael Frimenko.

Services: A Burial Service will be held, Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 980 Bridle Path Rd. Bethlehem.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. with a Panikhida Service at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Inc. Bethlehem.

Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church Choir Fund, 980 Bridle Path Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017.
