John G. Mingora

John G. Mingora, 91, of Bethlehem, PA, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Gracedale.

He was born in Bethlehem, the son of the late John W. and Anna (Petrik) Mingora. He was the loving husband to the late Margaret T. “Peg” (Donchetz) Mingora. They were married 67 years.

John worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 45 years, retiring as an inspector in the Metallurgical Department. An army veteran of World War II, he served honorably with the 153rd Engineer Combat Battalion. He served in the Pacific Theatre of operations at New Guinea, the Philippine Islands including Leyte and the occupation of Japan in Yokohama. He was a lifelong fan of Lehigh and a parishioner of St. Annes Catholic Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Nancy, wife of James Davis of Bethlehem Twp.; grandsons, Dr. Jason Davis of CA; and Brian Davis and wife, Jill, of NJ; great-grandchildren, Kayla Jaiden and Joshua Cole; and his brother, Joseph. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Francis Mingora and sisters, Mary Gaydos and Philomena “Phyl” Sukitch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Burial with full military honors will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
