John Edward Glenn, 85, of Salisbury Twp., passed away surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Catherine L. (Wagner) Glenn. John was born in Allentown on November 13, 1938 to the late Joseph E. and Alfreda E. (Herbold) Glenn. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during Peacetime on the USS Miller (DD535). John had worked in the Drywall Trade and then for Kimberly Clark as a sales representative for 20 years retiring in 1998. After retiring he was instrumental in helping his sons operate Archery @ The Glenn, Allentown. John was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace in hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a proud member of the Tin Can Sailors organization, the Mount Allen Hunting Club, Cresco, and the Southern Lehigh Golf League. John's passion for the great outdoors was only surpassed by his dedication to his family, never missing a grandchild's sporting event. For the past 20 years, he and his wife would enjoy the winters in North Fort Meyers playing many rounds of golf. He was a member of St. Ursula Roman Catholic Parish, Fountain Hill.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife of 65 years this past May 9th; children: Brian (Sharon) Glenn of Allentown, Thomas W. Glenn of Bethlehem, Debra Glenn of Allentown; brother: Thomas R. Glenn of Port Orange, FL; sisters: Jane Glynn of Bethlehem, Sally (Hugh) Jones of Allentown; grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Alex, Tyler & Zachary Glenn; nieces, nephews & cousins. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law: JoAnne Glenn.
Service: Family and friends are invited to his viewings 6-8pm Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem and 10-11am Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Ursula Roman Catholic Parish, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. The interment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online condolences may be offered at connellfuneral.com.
