John J. Horninger

John J. Horninger, Jr., 76, of Bethlehem, PA, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital Fountain Hill. He was born in Bethlehem, the son of the late John J. Horninger, Sr. and Anna C. (Henn) Horninger. He was the loving husband of 54 years, to Jeannette M. (Gackenbach) Horninger. John worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 43 years as a mail clerk. He was an avid fisherman and was well known for his expertise in shad fishing. John also enjoyed coin collecting and building models and in his early years he raced stock cars. He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeannette; daughters, Lori A., wife of Scott Shelly, of Bethlehem; and Beth L., wife of Richard Valderrama, of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brandon and Brady and his three sisters, Jean Hoke and Nancy Walker, both of Bethlehem; and Rosemarie Moschetti of California.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of St. Lukes, c/o development, 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.
