John J. Peters

John J. Peters, 94, of Bethlehem, died peacefully and went to be with his lord, on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. Born July 26, 1912 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Catherine Pribula Peters. He was the loving husband of the late Mary V. Hudak Peters who died in 1998. John worked for Bethlehem Steel as a welder in the Safety Shop for 39 years. He retired in 1976. He was a member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church of Bethlehem, a member of St. Bernard's Society, the USWA Local 2600 and past president of Slovak Catholic Sokol Assembly #78 and a member of Catholic Sokol Home Association. John will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Susan J. Horwath wife of Wendell of Bethlehem Twp; Joanne Knies wife of Paul of Bethlehem Twp; four grandchildren, Michelle Schoenen, Kirsten Horwath, Michael Horwath and Eric Knies and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George & Joseph Peters and one sister, Mary C. Peters. Services: A Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 16, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be held, Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, Holy Family Manor, 1200 Spring St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 or Alzheimer?s Association of the Lehigh Valley, 617-A Main St. Hellertown, PA 18055.
