John J. Shaton

John J. Shaton, 68, of Bethlehem passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Born on July 14, 1954, he was the son of the late Anna Marie (Garin) and George Shaton.

John graduated from Freedom High School class of 1972 and earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education from East Stroudsburg University. After graduating, John went to work for his family's business, Purity Beverage on the South Side of Bethlehem. After retiring, John returned to his passion of making a difference in students' lives, substitute teaching at Liberty High School for the last several years.

His world revolved around his daughter Katie E. Shaton, grandson Michael Passalugo and lifelong partner, Kathleen Schroeder whom he cherished. He enjoyed a good cigar, Formula One racing, golfing, UConn basketball, the Philadelphia Eagles, classic cars and the beach. He especially enjoyed taking impromptu trips with his family and furry companions, Dallas and Spike, while singing and listening to the Beatles.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister, Theresa C. Shaton, former spouse Robin Shaton, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peaceable Kingdom 1049 Macarthur Rd. Whitehall, PA 18052.
