John J. Wagner, Sr.

John J. Wagner Sr., 71, of Bethlehem, PA, died November 17, 2010, of natural causes at his home. He was the husband of Theresa C. Makos Wagner. They were married on May 29, 1964. Born on February 28, 1939 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Martin and Fanny Wagner, he was one of thirteen children. He spent most of his life working as an electrician in the Lehigh Valley area, retiring from Moravian College. He was a US Army veteran serving in the 3rd Battalion 6th Infantry in Berlin, Germany, and received numerous medals during his time of service. He was a hard worker who loved fishing and hunting with his sons, grandchildren and lifelong friends; as well as cooking and baking for family and friends every holiday. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with the family's black lab Jake. He was an active member in various social clubs and organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley that provided him with a lifetime of enjoyment and friendships. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Survivors: Wife; son John Jr. and his wife Marilyn Higgins Wagner, Bridgewater, NJ; son Robert W. and his wife Suzanne Toltesi Wagner, Bethlehem; son Duane A. and his wife Karin Decker Wagner, Williams Township; daughter Kylie H. Wagner and her husband Chad Talijan, Bethlehem; brother Thomas Wagner, Kulpmont; sister Linda Wagner Smithgall, Enola; sister Jean Wagner Marshall, Florida; sister Irene Wagner Yinger, Enola; and nine grandchildren: Christopher John, Hannah, Noah, Kaitlin, Robert Jr., Benjamin, Katarina, Annalena, and Logan, all of whom he cherished and loved to spend time with.

Services: Will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2010, in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA. Family and friends may call from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday. Burial Service will follow at 12:30pm at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
