John "Jack" L. Mies

John “Jack” L. Mies, 77 of Bethlehem, died on December 12, 2016 due to complications from leukemia. He was the son of the late Angela C. (Hoffstetter) and John F. Mies. Jack was the loving husband of Catherine “Fran” F. (Dwyer) Mies.

He was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. Homer Research Laboratories after 42 years. Jack was a handyman and could fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing pinochle. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Fran Mies, of Bethlehem; children, John Mies and his wife, Wendy, of Greensboro, NC, Kathleen Mies of Reading and Michael Mies of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Kyle Kitzhoffer, Shawn Kitzhoffer, John E. “Jack” Mies and Robert F. “Rob” Mies; and sisters, Adelaide and her husband Leonard Ortwein and Joan Andrews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie Minarik.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
