John L. Verbos

John L. Verbos, 82, formerly of Bressler, PA; more recently of Bethlehem, PA; died on January 14, 2022. He was born in Harrisburg, PA; son of the late Frank and Catherine (Musa) Verbos. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Teresa Y. (Benkovic) Verbos.

John will be remembered for his faith in God, love of family and friends, and pride in his Croatian heritage. John was a member of St. Lawrence CFU Lodge #13, Friendship Fire Co. of Bressler and the Kolo Club Marian where he played, sang, danced, and taught music. He was a very talented self-taught musician throughout his life and traveled to many places including the Croatian Consulate and Basilica in Washington DC to perform. John was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

John was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School and worked in the Quality Control Department for Victaulic Company of America.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Teresa; children, Diane Smith, John L. Verbos, Jr. (Sandy), and Patricia Horn (Chris); sister, Rosemary Verbos; grandchildren, Alyssa Horn, John Verbos, III, and CJ Horn; and great grandchildren, Payton and Hadleigh Verbos. John was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 7-9 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Another visitation will be held on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Masks will be required upon entry for the visitations and Mass. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association in honor of John's wife, Teresa.
