John M. Beginnes

September 6, 1922 — May 20, 2010

John M Beginnes, 87, of Bethlehem, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem.

John was born in Jessup, PA and was the son of the late Michael Beginnes and Eva Maksimiak Beginnes Molnar and the husband of Arlene G. Geisinger Beginnes of Bethlehem.

John served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific, earning a good conduct medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star and World War II Victory Medal.

John worked for the former Western Electric in Allentown as a repairman retiring in 1981 after 35 years service. He was a member of the Telecom Pioneers Club. John was a graduate of Northampton Community College, a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and a member of the Hellertown American Legion and VFW and was devoted to his family.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Arlene G. Geisinger Beginnes of Bethlehem, four daughters Diane Phalen of Allentown, Linda Kruse and her husband Ray of Buffalo, KY, Mary Woytko and her husband George of Danielsville, PA and Anne Bivans of Whitehall, PA, a brother Michael Molnar, four sisters Martha Yencho, Mildred Scrak and Anna Jane Molnar all of Bethlehem and Rose Marie Kleppinger of Jonesboro, GA.

John is predeceased by his parents, two sisters Olga Yandrisovitz and Irene Waslick and a son-in-law W. Scott Bivans.

Friends may call Monday, May 24, 2010 at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Panachida will be at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Connell Funeral Home followed by the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM at Ss Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 1140 Johnston Dr., Bethlehem, PA 18017 followed by burial at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
