John M Pavelko, Sr.

John M. Pavelko, Sr., 74 of Hanover Township Northampton County died Thursday at St. Luke?s Hospital.

John and his wife Patricia Ofchus Pavelko celebrated their 51st anniversary this past June. They are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem.

Born in Allentown he is the son of the late John J. and Anna E. Kormucik Pavelko.

He worked for PP&L as Manager of Corporate Planning and retired in 1998 after 33 years. He enjoyed his retirement golfing, traveling, and cheering for Eagles and Penn State football. He also spent many hours volunteering at the Knights of Columbus in Allentown where he was instrumental in preserving the Columbian Home through his work on the building fund. His efforts to establish a long term income source for the Knights enabled Green Meadows Assisted Living Facility then build on the property owned by the nights on Greenleaf Street. He also proudly served the Knights of Columbus as a member of the 4th degree.

John is a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and Moravian College He graduated with a B.A., in Economics, Business Administration and Accounting. In 1965 he was named Who?s Who Among American Universities and Colleges in for his leadership roles at Moravian including: President of the Student Loan foundation, , President Epsilon Beta Alpha, Veterans Club Treasurer and Campus Radio Station Business Manager while proudly serving his country with the U.S. Army Reserves and working at Everson Electric.

John was a very generous and kind family man who loved to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his many friends.

His family has fond memories of his obsession with duct tape, his ticket sales fondly referring to him as the ticket man and his love of Days of Our Lives, the Eagle and Penn State Football.

Surviving with his wife are his daughter: Deborah, wife of Sean McNamara their children Ryan and Karsen of San Mateo, CA: his son John, Jr. of Bethlehem and his children: Sydney, Paige and Brooke; and Chris and his fianc Jody of Emmaus and their children, Chase, Brody, Camryn, Blake, Cade and Jared.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Connell Funeral Home 245 East Broad Street Bethlehem followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3219 Santee Road Bethlehem burial will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
