John Makos

December 30, 1914 — April 14, 2008

Mr. John Makos, 93 of formerly of 12th Street in Bethlehem Township died Monday afternoon at Cedar Brook, Fountain Hill Annex. He was the husband of the late Mary Nakata Makos who died in 2000.

Born in Bethlehem, Pa. he is the son of the late Steven and Fannie Sampar Makos.

John worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company in the Rolling Mills and was a member of the AFL/CIO Local 2598.

He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem Township.

Mr. Makos proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theatre.

He is survived by his daughters; Sister Virginelle M., O.S.F. of Bethlehem and Mrs. Monica "Daryl" Kutschbech of Pittsburgh, Pa. in addition to his sisters-in-law Edna Makos and Mary Makos, his brother-in-law Edward Nakata and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers; Frank, Joseph, Steve, Andrew, Paul, William and Peter and his sister Theresa.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chruch, 1st St. Bethehem Township.

Visitation will be on 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
