John R. Rekos, 91, of Bethlehem, died peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his sons house in West Chester, Pa with family at his side. Born in Lansford, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Veronica (Tokar) Rekos. He was the devoted husband of Margaret E. (Miller) Rekos; they were high school sweethearts and married 68 years.
John was employed by the Bethlehem Steel as a gauge inspector for 33 years. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army as a Tank Commander. He fought in the Invasion of Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret; son, Brian Rekos and wife Marguerite of West Chester, PA; daughter, Beth Pry of Mt. Laurel, NJ; grandsons, Eric and Brandon Pry and many nieces and nephews; sisters, Bernadine Gochal and Dolores Lesko. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Boyle.
A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem. A viewing will be held in the church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Nesquehoning.
