John T. "Jack" Solt, 82, of Allentown died Saturday October 10, 2009, at Manor Care of Bethlehem. Born in Freeland, PA on December 4, 1926; he was the son of the late John H. and Susan Mikula Solt. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanette Braden Solt.
John worked for the US Postal Service. He began his career with the Postal Rail Service, and then worked at the Allentown Post Office. He completed his Postal Service career at the Lehigh Valley Facility where he was a supervisor for 25 of his 35 years working for the service. Jack was an avid model train enthusiast. He kept a large model train layout in the basement of his house, as well as a "garden railway" in his back yard. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the US Navy and proudly served during WWII. He was a member of the Catasauqua American Legion.
He will be lovingly remembered by: wife, Jeanette, step-son, James Wesner and wife Cynthia, and three step-grandsons, Paul, Ryan, and Jonathan Wesner, brother, Raymond and wife Jean, sister, Elizabeth Solt, and niece, Anne Solt. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Jeffrey Wesner, step-daughter, Linda Jean Zelasko and her late husband Benjamin, and niece, Barbara Solt.
