John W. Gasdaska, Jr., 93, of Bethlehem died July 16, 2011 in Phoebe Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Helen Moclock Gasdaska who died May 1, 2006. John was born on August 6, 1917 in Bethlehem. He was the son of the late Anna Ulicny and John W. Gasdaska, Sr.
He worked as a Machinst at the Bethlehem Steel Companys' No. 2 Machine Shop for 39 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Bethlehem High School's 1934 State Championship football team. He was active in the Slovak Catholic Sokols Fraternal Society and was for many years the group's Financial Secretary. He was also an Avid Lehigh Football and Wrestling fan. John was a member of the former Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Bethlehem.
John will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Karen wife of Michael Douglas of Poolesville, MD, Jeanne wife of Terry Steinberg of Bethlehem and son, John Gasdaska, III of Bethlehem. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Royko and brother, William Gasdaska.
