Jose F. Bemposto

Jose F. “Joe” Bemposto, 94, of Bethlehem Twp. died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born in New Bedford, MA on August 15, 1922; son of the late Joaquim Ferreira and Rosa Bemposto. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Ida (August) Coruche Bemposto.

Joe worked for the Bethlehem Steel and Walps Restaurant prior to beginning his career at the City of Bethlehem Sewer Treatment Plant where he worked for over 19 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Portuguese American Club and secretary of the Portuguese Lodge #31 for over 50 years. Joe was also an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan, enjoyed reading and always greeted friends and family with a smile.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ida; daughters, Maryrose B. Ribau and her husband, Mario of Bethlehem Twp. and Elvira B. Pimenta and her husband, Mario of Hanover Twp.; grandsons, Paul B. Pimenta and his wife, Areti and Mark B. Ribau and his fianc, Sherry; sister-in-law, Edna Teles and her husband Jaime; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests at 10:30 and a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
