Joseph A. Reing, formerly of Bethlehem, PA, died in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in late July, 2010. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph C. Reing and Marie S. O'Donnell Reing. He is survived by two sisters, Suzanne Spaar, wife of Daniel Spaar, of Allentown and Joanne Gimpert, widow of Joseph Gimpert, Jr., of Bethlehem. He has one nephew, four nieces, five great nephews and three great nieces.

Mr. Reing graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School, earned his BS in Physics from the University of Notre Dame and his Master's in Secondary Education from Lehigh University. He taught for eight years at Pennridge High School in Perkasie, PA before relocating to Florida where he was an Adjunct Professor at American Flyers Pilot Training School. It was at American Flyers where Mr. Reing introduced the use of simulation software for physics. In 1996, Mr. Reing began teaching at International Baccalaureate schools --he taught in Paraguay, Turkey, New Mexico, Venezuela, Africa and India. He was to begin teaching in Qatar in the Persian Gulf this fall. Mr. Reing was a distinguished educator who touched the lives of many, many people around the world. He is lovingly remembered and sadly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at The Cathedral of St. Catharine of Sienna, located at 18th and Turner Streets, Allentown. Family and friends will be received from 9:15 a.m. until the Mass in the church. Interment at Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made c/o the Connell Funeral Home to support the purchase and dedication of physics laboratory equipment in Mr. Reing's name.

Arrangements have been made with Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem.
