Joseph A. Unger, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away on Friday, February 24. He was born March 21, 1916, the son of Wendell and Kathryn Unger. Joseph was a member of the Incarnation of Our Lord Parish. A graduate of Liberty High School, he worked at Bethlehem Steel for 47 years. After retiring, he was an active member of the Mora Club where he volunteered helping challenged children to bowl. He also had a membership with AARP and the Heights Athletic Assn. Weekly golfing with his buddies was a passion post retirement. Joseph was an avid and loyal Eagles fan. The highlight of holidays was being surrounded by his family.
Greatly loved, he is survived by wife, Helen nee Ranilovich of 72 years, daughters, Joyce Feit Joel Mount Laurel, NJ; Kathleen Deiter late William A. Bethlehem Twp.; He was an adored grandfather "Pops" to Lori Zsitek, Mark Schumacher companion Carol, Alan Grinchuk companion Dee and the late Michael Grinchuk, great-grandchildren, Courtney Zsitek, Hannah Grinchuk her E-Pop, Julia and Emily Schumacher. Also survived by sister Margaret Butz, nieces, Peggy Butz, Kathy Reinbold, John, Anna Marie Marth her Smoe, Jean Michaels and Wendy Unger, nephew, Frank Unger Jamie, Kathleen's step-family, Jane and Stuart Bedics and their daughters, Autumn and Avery. He was predeceased by three brothers, four sisters and a nephew, Buddy.
Services: Visitation at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St, Bethlehem, Monday February 27, 2012 from 9-10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
