Joseph E. Zavar

Joseph E. Zavar, 90, died Sunday, November 24, 2013. He was born May 23, 1923; son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Kalas) Zavar. Joseph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Isabella M. (Bambu) Zavar.

Joseph proudly served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. In 1985, he retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. where he worked in the 48 inch rolling mill for 30 years. Joseph was a member of the USWA Local 2599. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer J. Zavar of Easton and son, Jeffrey J. Zavar and his wife, Barbara of Hellertown. Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Julius and Andrew.

A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 immediately followed by a service at 10 AM. Interment will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephs name to the charity of ones choice.
