Joseph G. Bednar, Jr.

Joseph G. Bednar, Jr., 77, of Bethlehem Township, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at St.Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem. Born January 26, 1933 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Vera Bakos and Joseph F. Bednar. He was married to Nickoline "Nicky" Bove Bednar with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the former Bethlehem Steel in the Coke Works for 42 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem Township.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nicky, sisters-in-law, Madeline Cabone, Margie Leonard and NiaMae Bove, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie Patti.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 7-9 PM. A calling period will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 8:30-9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 1st St., Bethlehem, PA 18020 at 10 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
