Joseph J. Achando, 90, of Fountain Hill, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the son of the late Jose and Maria (Sousa) Achando. He was the loving husband of Goldie (Torma) Achando; they were married for 67 years.
Joseph worked for the Bethlehem Steel as an Inspector in the Beam Yards for 43 years. He was a member of St. Johns Windish Lutheran Church of Bethlehem. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Goldie; daughter, Sharon, wife of Guy Lintner; and grandson, Christopher Lintner. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis and sister, Irene Silva.
A funeral service will be held in the St. Johns Windish Lutheran Church, 617 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, 18015, on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held in the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
