Joseph L. Mclaughlin

Joseph L. McLaughlin, 74, of Bethlehem died on July 26, 2012, having battled multiple myeloma for seven years. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Bogdan) McLaughlin with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Edith (Jones) McLaughlin. He graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School and earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University in 1961. Joseph began his 36 year career at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a looper, worked in the Fabricated Structural Construction Division in Bethlehem and Pottstown, ending his career as a project manager in the Bethlehem plant.

Retirement brought the enjoyment of grandsons, visiting National Parks in this great country, golfing, following Villanova basketball and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sylvia and sons, Thomas and wife, Darlene of Charlotte, NC and David and wife, Lisa of Harrisburg, NC; four grandsons, Brady, Michael, Kevin and Ryan and his brother, Douglas of Reading, PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 30th at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem PA 18018. The family will receive friends, in the church, on Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
