Joseph M. Kalas, 95, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the St. Lukes Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was born in Bethlehem, the son of Helen and Markus Kalas. Joseph was the loving husband for 61 years of the late Edith (Funk) Kalas.
Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a graduate of Liberty High School. After 30 years of working as a boiler operator, he retired from the Bethlehem Steel. Joseph was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Joseph was a hero to all his family members. He especially loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan, wife of Bruce Miller of Greentown, PA, Karen Judd, wife of Francis Supanek of Bethlehem Township, and Cathie, wife of Bruce Benway of Salisbury Township; grandchildren, Kevin and Mark Miller, Shelly Judd, and Scott and Timothy Benway; great-grandchildren, Amanda Miller, and Dylan, Cailey, Mackenzie and Jason Benway, and Sophie Horvath. Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Barry Kalas, and sisters, Margaret McNamara and Helen Kalas.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
