Joseph O. Mclaughlin

November 10, 1924 — September 24, 2012

Joseph O. McLaughlin, 87, of Bethlehem; passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg Campus, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 10, 1924 in Philadelphia; son of the late Daniel T. and May (Hascher) McLaughlin. He was the husband of Patricia K. (Auman) McLaughlin. They celebrated 62 years of marriage on January 24, 2012.

Joseph was a scientific glassblower for Western Electric, AT&T, and Bell Telephone Laboratories and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country in the European Theatre during WWII, receiving three bronze battle stars. A long-time lover of art, he attended the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia as well as the Graphic Sketch Club of Philadelphia. Joseph was also a published author whose writings included: "The Die is Cast", "World War II/ Another View," and "The Littlest Indian". He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was also devoted to his faith. "He was our teacher and hero".

Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia, son, Joseph and wife Vicki of Greenville, SC; his daughter, Kathleen, wife of David Velho of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Erika, Tripp, Lane, Andrew, Paul, and Greg, and great-grandson, Blake.

He was predeceased by eight siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, 321 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Calling Hour will be from 11-12 p.m. at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow

at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
