Juan Rivera

Juan Rivera, 85, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born August 9, 1931 in Corozal, Puerto Rico; he was the last surviving son of nine children of the late Juan and Monica (Vasquez) Rivera. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen (Diaz) Rivera.

Juan retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 28 years of service in the Coke Works. He was a founding member and past vice-president of the Puerto Rican Beneficial Society. Juan enjoyed music and dancing. He loved spending time with his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered for being strong, noble, generous and selfless. A family oriented man, Juan opened his home to family members from Puerto Rico who needed a new lease on life.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carmen; children, Juan Angel Rivera, Jr.; Yolanda Rivera Pastor, wife of the late David Pastor; Hector Manuel Rivera and his wife, Patricia Beth Rivera; Oscar Rivera and his wife, Nancy Perez Rivera; Jimmy Rivera and his wife, Virginia Ocasio Rivera; as well as his eight grandchildren, Oscar, Justin, Ariel, David, Gabriella, Rosalinda, Joshua, and Marco.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. with a service to celebrate Juans life to immediately follow all at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
