Justine Scanlan

Justine "Jessie" Scanlan, 76, of Bethlehem died Thursday May 28, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. She was born on January 5, 1933 in St. Clair, Pa. daughter of the late Andrew and Johanna Strambo Uhrin. She was the wife of Daniel C. Scanlan. They would have been married for 54 years this coming August.

Jessie worked as a department manager for the Orr's Department Store in Bethlehem. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was an active volunteer for the school and church carnival. She was a graduate of St. Clair High School 1950 and attended Northampton County Community College. Jessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many after a courageous battle with cancer over the last 9 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Daniel, son, Mark D. Scanlan and wife Roseann of Morrisville, N.C., daughter Patricia Ann Murphy wife of Mark of Raleigh, NC., sisters Leona Niemiec of Van Nuys, Ca., and Patricia Weber of Bethlehem, grandchildren, Michael and Katelyn Scanlan, Christopher, Sean and Amy Evans, Briana and Chelsea Scanlan, and great granddaughter, Hannah Scanlan, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son Daniel A. Scanlan in June 2008.

Services will be held Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 10:15AM at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, Pa. Calling hours will be from 7-9PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery
