Karl F. "Bud" Hafner, 77, of Allentown died Friday January 23, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospice 17th & Chew St. in Allentown. He was born on November 18, 1931 in Bethlehem son of the late Herman and Helen Diehl Hafner. He was the husband of Veronica Barber Hafner. They celebrated 53 years of marriage on January 14th.
Bud was a service engineer for Streeter-Amet of Grays Lake, Ill., and for Howe-Richardson for over 30 years. He also worked in the roll shop at Bethlehem Steel for 11 years. He was a member of the University Parish of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Bethlehem and served as an usher for over 25 years. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Washington Republican Club, Heights A.A., St. Bernards, Jefferson Democratic Club, Fearless Fire Co #14, Fountain Hill Republican Club, and the Salisbury Fire Co.
Bud was devoted to his family and lived life to the fullest. He was an avid hunter, Lehigh University football fan, enjoyed bowling, playing golf, softball, and loved to dance.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Veronica, son, William K. Hafner of Allentown, daughters, Kathleen A. Lukitsch wife of Frank of Albrightsville, Debra M. Klocek wife of Richard of Slatington, and Donna M. Geiger wife of Brian of Allentown, sister, Loretta Becker of Hellertown, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 9:30AM Wednesday January 28, 2009 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM at the University Parish of Holy Ghost Catholic Church 417 Carlton Ave. Bethlehem, Pa. 18015. Visitation hours will be held 7-9PM Tuesday evening and 8:30-9:30AM Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
