Katharine G. Kleppinger, 94 of Bethlehem died Saturday morning Dec. 15th at St. Luke's Hospice House in Lower Saucon Township. Born in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late William J. and Carrie (Stern) Giesau. She was the wife of the late Walter W. Kleppinger and also the late
Edward F. Schanta.
After graduating from Bethlehem High School in 1936 she worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company for many years retiring as a chief telephone operator. Katharine was a long time member of St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Bethlehem. She was a member of Silver Creek Country Club where she enjoyed her many years with their garden club.
She will be dearly missed by her step-sons: Richard W. and his wife Nancy Kleppinger of Allentown and Robert D. and his wife Patricia Kleppinger of Manchester, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Betty Jane Haupt of Dundalk, MD, her grandchildren John, Richard and Robert Kleppinger and Susan Deibert, in addition to her nieces: Karolyn Haupt and Frieda Soska and her nephews: Ross and Bruce Haupt. She was preceded in death by her sister Grace G. Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday December 20th at 11:30 a.m. in the Connell Funeral Home 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA. Friends may call on Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Morgenland Cemetery, Salisbury Township. Memorials may be made to: The Center for Vision Loss, 845 W.
