Kathleen L. Starr

Kathleen L. Starr, 72, of Bethlehem, formerly of Wappingers Falls, NY died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born September 3, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY; daughter of the late James and Florence (Sammis) Leavy.

Kathleen graduated from Marist College in 1979 with a degree in Computer Science where she was captain of the tennis team. Upon graduation, she accepted a position at IBM, where she was a loyal employee for over thirty years until she retired in 2013. She was a devoted single parent to her four children and in her spare time, Kathleen enjoyed reading and attending her childrens events. During her retirement her greatest joy was spending time with her ten grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and remembered for her kindness, selflessness and graciousness. She moved to Bethlehem, PA in 2015 to be closer to her family, knowing that life would become more difficult. She enjoyed living at Moravian Village and was grateful for the friends she made there and to those who helped and cared for her.

Survivors:

Sons, Ed (Kristin) of Winnetka, IL; Brett (Shelley Tonner) of Montclair, NJ; Andrew (Kirsten) of Lake Bluff, IL ; Daughter Bonnie (Richard Spugnardi) of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Robby, Teddy, Timmy and Maley Starr, Sam, Ella and Sofia Starr and Caroline, Tori and Christian Spugnardi; siblings, Florence Lane (Jerry), Jennifer Boetjer (Martin), and James Leavy. She was predeceased by siblings, Marie Shirey and Patrick Leavy.

Services:

There will be a private family service on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
