Kathryn B. Mixon

Kathryn B. Mixon, 88, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on December 8, 2020. She has rejoined her loving husband in Heaven. Kathy was the daughter of Frank and Anna Smulligan, and she was raised on a dairy farm in New Ringgold, PA. She later moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Immigration Department. She met a handsome sailor, Mixon, who she married. They settled in Bethlehem, PA, and celebrated life together for 58 years until his passing in 2010. Kathy had many interests including gardening and music (especially rock and roll.) However, her main passion was teaching. Kathy enriched the lives of hundreds of students over her 38 year teaching career at Sacred Heart School in Miller Heights.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her children Mari Siddons (husband Kevin), Eileen Jane Brodt (and Bela), Joe MIxon (wife Lisa) and grandchildren Kyle, Chelsea, Ariel, and their families. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann Burton, sister- in-law Elizabeth Smulligan, and nieces Jackye, Julie, and Lucy. Kathy was predeceased by her brother Joseph Smulligan, sister Frances “Dolly” Siluk, and nephew James Smulligan.

Kathy was a member of St. Ursula Parish. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in Kathys name.
