Kathy S. Hartman

Kathy Sue Hartman of Bethlehem, PA passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. Born in Harrisburg, PA April 18, 1958 to the previously deceased Wilbert and Carolyn (Walters) Hartman. She was born into a musical family, and as a profession, taught vocal music primarily at Phillipsburg High School from 1989 to 2011. She taught a few final years at the former Andover Morris Elementary School in Phillipsburg, NJ until her retirement in 2015. Kathys awards and accomplishments are too numerous to mention, but the highlights are co-founding the Phillipsburg Summer Youth Theatre, with Father Len Russay in 1996. Receiving the Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce “The Educator” Award and Person of the Year Award both in 2015.

Kathy was infectious! If you knew her, you loved her. Her former students still lovingly call her “K-Dawg.” They looked up to her, and she was always there for them. Her final musical position was the Minister of Music at Frenchtown Presbyterian Church in Frenchtown, NJ. She adored her church family.

Kathy leaves behind a wife of almost 20 years, Tracy; a daughter, Alison Vreeland; future son-in-law, Jon Hoffman all at home. Her-in-laws, Donald and Barbara Xander of Bethlehem; a brother-in-law, Chad Xander and wife, Angela, a nephew, Aden of New Tripoli; and brother, William Hartman and wife Rose, two nephews, Daniel and Michael of State College.

Kathys favorite two cuddle babies at home, Grace and Daisy miss her terribly as well.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 2-4 P.M. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Donations may be made to the Kathy Hartman Vocal Music Scholarship Fund at Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, NJ.
