Kenneth E. Hughes

Kenneth E. Hughes, 61, of Laurys Station, PA died at home, following an illness, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013; he was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Butler, PA on Oct. 22, 1951; he was the son of Mable (Hortert) Hughes-Johnson and the late Raymond C. Hughes.

Ken graduated from Knoch H.S. in 1969, then proudly served in the National Guard for 6 years as an M.P.; serving in Germany, the Johnstown Flood, and various other places. He was a manager at various K-mart locations in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Then was a manager at various Midas Shops in PA & NJ for over 25 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Renee T. Albertson-Hughes, whom he married on Nov. 7, 1985; five sons, Kyle of Northampton, John of Laurys Station, Matthew of Catasauqua, Jacob and Christian both of Laurys Station; 3 grandchildren, Elliot, Mackenzi and Maci; brothers, Ed of Renfrew, Gary of Saxonburg, David of Turbotville, and Joe of Renfrew; sisters, Judy of New Stanton, Raylene of Butler, Joyce of Jamestown, and Donna of Butler.

Visitation will be held in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4456 Main St. Whitehall, on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Renee and sent in c/o Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
