Kenneth L. Stott, Jr., 86, of Bethlehem, PA, died peacefully with his devoted wife of 65 years, Nancy (Denkhaus) Stott, by his side, holding his hand. Ken was born April 21, 1938, in Upper Darby, PA, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Dorothy M. (Dann) Stott.
Ken will be lovingly remembered for his polite demeanor, determination, intelligence, and tremendous work ethic. He was, as a man of his word, a true gentleman. Ken enjoyed traveling and found great peace in bicycling for both sport and leisure. Among family and friends, he was a well-known Philadelphia Phillies fan since 1948, even owning a shirt stating this truth. Above all, family was the most important thing in Ken's life.
Ken graduated from Lansdowne High School, where he met and fell in love with his biology lab partner and love of his life, Nancy. Upon graduation, Ken attended and received a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. He later earned a MS Degree in Electronical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and his PhD in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.
He began his career in engineering with Bell Labs and continued his work with Western Electric prior to accepting a role at Bethlehem Steel, where he managed a team developing production scheduling and operations research systems. Ken was a registered Professional Engineer and member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. He also taught as an adjunct professor at Lehigh University.
Ken served on the church council at St. Paul's UCC Indianland, where he and Nancy were members since 1966. He was a former member of the Lehigh Township Lions Club and Lehigh Township Ambulance Corp. Ken and Nancy delivered for the Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley in both Lehigh Township and Bethlehem for almost twenty years.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy; son Kenneth Stott, III, and wife, Susan; daughters, Karen Goodman and husband, Stuart; Nancy Groom and husband, Thomas; and Susan McKeon and husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Kathy Stott, wife of the late Edward Stott; and sister, Shirley Titus. Ken's legacy also lives on in his twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018, from 9-10 a.m., with a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Indianland Cemetery.
