Lara R. Shapiro-Ellis

Lara R. Shapiro-Ellis, loving wife, mother, daughter and friend to many, of Bethlehem passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Milton Shapiro and the late Gayle (Drewett) Shapiro. Lara was the loving wife of Josh Ellis.

Lara was a special woman. She was as kind, genuine and honest as they come. She loved her family and friends and would do anything at any time for them. Her sons Nicholas and Ryan were her pride and joy and she was their biggest supporter in all that they did. Lara loved being a teacher and librarian at Nitschmann Middle School where she helped countless numbers of students. She also worked at the Boys and Girls Clubs after school programs. Lara enjoyed shopping and attending her sons sporting events.

Lara will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 17 years, Josh Ellis; sons, Nicholas and Ryan; father, Milton Shapiro and his wife, Terri; brother, Geoffrey Shapiro and his wife, Sandy; grandmother, Peggy Drewett; mother and father in law, Lowell and Joann Ellis and step brother, Phil Pellegrino and his wife, Dana.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. An opportunity to share words of remembrance will begin at 6:45 p.m.
