Lawrence S. Digirolamo

Lawrence Salvatore DiGirolamo, 97, of Bethlehem passed away on May 27, 2018. Larry was born on January 28, 1921 in Phillipsburg, NJ, the son of the late Pietro and Rosaria Bozzomo DiGirolamo. He was the loving husband of Doris June Lear DiGirolamo who passed away in 2011. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in September 2010.

Larry was a WWII veteran, having served four years as a Yeoman Second Class in the US Navy on the USS Raymond James minesweeper in the Pacific. Larry was employed by Ingersoll Rand before entering the Navy and worked for and retired from MetLife, Inc. after his Navy service. Not ready for retirement Larry then worked 20 years as a driver for VAST(Valley Association for Specialized Transportation) providing transportation services.

Larry lived a very fun-loving and active life. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club, loved to golf, making periodic trips to Myrtle Beach with his buddies. He also participated in a local softball league until he was 82.

Larry will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sally and her husband Tony Apanavage; Donna and her husband David Zimmerman; Michele and her husband Tom Gralish; and son, Peter DiGirolamio and his wife Sandi Marsh. Larry was a caring Pop-Pop to his six grandchildren, Tony Apanavage and his wife Carolyn, Sara Apanavage and her partner Tim Bant, Emily Zimmerman, Madeline and Jesse Gralish and Joseph DiGirolamo and to his three great grandchildren, Luke and Brayden Apanavage and Henry Gralish. Larry will also be missed by his devoed niece Sarah Giordano and her husband, Tony.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Inc. Bethlehem. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
