Lehmon Mixon 78 celebrated life to the fullest. On September 29, 2010, he is celebrating in Heaven.
Mixon was born in Statesboro, Georgia. He was raised by his grandfather and spent much of his youth in the Bethesda Home for Boys in Georgia. At the age of 15 he joined the Navy. He served for 10 years aboard the USS Leyte CV32.
While in the Navy he met Kathy Smulligan who became his wife. They celebrated life together for 58 years. Although he moved up north over 50 years ago, he was always proud of his southern roots.
Mixon worked at Durkee Famous Foods on 8th Avenue in Bethlehem for 38 years. At Durkee he was an electrician; he served as Union President and helped start the program with the Miller Blood Bank where he was a 3 gallon donor.
He loved to work with his hands, whether fixing things, making stained glass, or cooking pancakes. All he had he shared with others - both family and friends. His joy for life was abounding, and this joy will be carried on in the hearts of all those he touched.
Mixon is survived by his wife Kathy, children Marifrances Siddons husband Kevin, Eileen Jane Brodt, and Joseph Mixon wife Lisa. He also has three wonderful grandchildren: Kyle Siddons wife Marybeth, Chelsea Mixon, and Ariel Mixon.
