Leonard A. Capuano

July 7, 1932 — February 20, 2013

Leonard Anthony Capuano, 80, a lifetime resident of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at his home. He was surrounded by his wife and loving family. He was born on July 7, 1932; son of the late Georgio and Mariantonia (Ruggiero) Capuano. Leonard was the devoted husband of Anne (Martini), they were married 58 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Leonard graduated from Liberty High School, Class of 1950, and attended Fork Union Military Academy and Moravian College. He worked at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 33 years before retiring from the Credit Department in 1984. Following that, he worked at Pat's Newsstand in Bethlehem through 2005. For over 30 years, he served as the Bethlehem Area School District Stadium clock operator for sporting events.

Leonard will be best remembered for the roar of his laughter and the joy he derived from time with his family whether watching sporting events, cutting his lawn, or practicing his faith.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anne, his eight children, Marie Kresge, wife of E. Gerald, Bethlehem; Matthew (husband of Terry), Bethlehem; Anne Skelly, wife of Patrick, Bethlehem; Lenore Capuano, Bethlehem; Catherine Fattore, wife of Alexander, Bethlehem; Leonard M. (husband of Michelle), Bethlehem; Elizabeth Mancuso, wife of Gilbert, Wyomissing; Michele Staves, wife of Frank, Plymouth Meeting; fifteen grandchildren; sister-in-law, Caroline (Venanzi) Capuano of Hellertown; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Georgio D. and Mariantonia (Ruggerio), and brothers, Anthony, Daniel, U.S. Army Pvt. Matthew, and Rev. Michael A. of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, P.O. Box 95000-5315, Philadelphia, PA 19195.
