Leroy Smith

Leroy L. Smith, 91, of Bethlehem, passed away at his residence on Sunday December 16, 2012. He was born on May 21, 1921 in Lebanon, Pa., son of the late James and Edna Smith. He was the husband of the late Marie Smith who died in 2008.

Leroy worked in the blast furnaces for Bethlehem Steel. He was also a veteran in the US Army, serving as a Staff Sergeant during World War II in the European Theater and receiving 5 bronze stars.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Leroy Smith Jr., Harold P. Smith, and Ronald Smith and wife Joann all of Bethlehem, daughters, Gail Cole wife of James, and Carolyn Sanderson both of Bethlehem, 15 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 7-9pm at The Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. A Graveside Ceremony with Military Honors will be held Friday 11 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Bethlehem.
