Lillian T. Putar

Lillian T. Putar, 86, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Hospice House of St. Luke's. She was born April 5, 1926 in Bethlehem; daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (DeFrank) Tumminello. Lillian is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, William M. Putar of Bethlehem.

She worked for the G.C. Murphy Company for 47 years, retiring as personnel director.

She was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church, and a former parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Sodality.

Lillian was artistic and musical, a dancer and an organist. She created beautiful flower arrangements, crafts, and needlework. As a Serra Club member, she was active in the Religious Affirmation Program, sending birthday, greeting, and anniversary cards to priests and sisters throughout Bethlehem for more than a decade. She was caring and generous, always young at heart, and lived her faith every day. Lil and Bill were an inseparable couple and their life together was filled with laughter, happiness, and great memories.

Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill; her brother, Nathan Tumminello; nephew, Edward Tumminello and partner Marci Rothstein; nieces Cindy Liedl and her husband David, and Laurie Thomas and her husband Peter Der Manuelian; and three great nieces, Kira, Jaryn, and Marta.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Tumminello and her brother, Matthew Tumminello.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday, September 4, and 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Wednesday, September 5, at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM at Holy Infancy Church 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Infancy Church.
