Lois A. Kaercher, 87, originally from Pittsburgh and Bethlehem resident since 1974, passed away on October 10, 2022.
Born on November 24, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Mary Josephine (Shelley) and Albert Myers of the Morningside section of Pittsburgh.
Never one to reflect on her own accomplishments, Lois was well educated and an excellent student. She attended Duquesne university as an undergraduate and obtained her masters degree in social work (MSW) from Smith College for Women. Later in life, she completed a second Masters degree in education while working at Lehigh University. Following graduate school, she worked for nearly 15-years as a social worker for Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh before relocating to Bethlehem with her new husband (Charles). Soon after moving to Bethlehem, Lois worked in an administrative role with Lehigh University for nearly 20-years. Lois was a devout Catholic and member of St Simon & Jude Church. She enjoyed attending many church functions in addition to volunteering at Holy Family Manor and playing golf. She was an avid reader and loved scrabble and the game of Mahjong.
She is survived by two step-sons, Michael and David (Leigh) Kaercher; two step-daughters, Mary Duh and Janet Kaercher; and four grandchildren, Erin, Dylan, John Paul and Morgan.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kaercher and her step-son, Terrance (Terry) Kaercher.
Services will be private and scheduled at a later date.
