Lorraine Anne Johnson

June 9, 1944 — February 2, 2017

Lorraine Anne Johnson (ne Schofield), 72, of Northampton and formerly of Bethlehem Township, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born June 9, 1944 in Irvington, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Harry Schofield and Augusta Farley (ne Walz). Lorraine was the loving wife of William L. Johnson, they were married for 47 years and would have celebrated 48 on February 15.

Lorraine wore a variety of hats over the course of her life. She graduated from Rutgers University in 1966 with a B.S. in Nursing, and was a practicing OB/GYN/delivery room nurse in the 1960s and early 1970s at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ, and helped deliver her nephew Darren. Over the course of her life, Lorraine was also a self-taught folk art painter, artist and teacher, an educator for Girls Inc., and retired from Hesss/The Bon Ton in the Palmer Park Mall, Easton, PA.

Her favorite job was wife, and mother/mother-in-law to her sons and daughters-in-law; Kevin W. and wife Shannon G. of Attleboro, MA; Paul E. and wife Shaun C. of Hatfield, PA; Sean A. and wife Brooke L. of Northampton, PA; and Ryan P. of Bethlehem, PA, and grandmother to Caitlin Anne, Aedan William, Quinn Sophia, Owen Michael, and Leo Samuel John. She was also a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

All who knew Lorraine remember a fun-loving lady with a ready smile and joke, and someone who loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. Sharply intelligent, she frustrated many with her skills in Trivial Pursuit. She was a lifelong New York Giants fan and loved to watch NFL football each Sunday with her husband. In 2016 she was crowned champion in the Augusta Farley Memorial Fantasy Football League (the AFMFFL), achieving the pinnacle of fantasy sports in 3 short years. She also loved rock music, parades, bagpipes, her birthday, and laughing - she also had a strange obsession with Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Thursday, February 9th, from 5 to 9 p.m. A 9 a.m. funeral/memorial service will be held on Friday, February 10 at the same location. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made in her name to Camp Joslin via The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc. 30 Ennis Road, PO Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537-0356.
