Louis J. Salvatori

Louis J. Salvatori, 90, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born August 6, 1924 in Bethlehem; son of the late Joseph P. and Philomena “Mamie” (Tocci) Salvatori. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Gigliotti) Salvatori. He was a 1943 graduate of Bethlehem High School. Louis was drafted into the US Army on July 27, 1943 and was assigned to B Battery, 12th Field Artillary Battalion. On June 7, 1944 he landed in Normandy. Louis participated in 5 campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge at Elsen Road Ridge. He was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his discharge from the Army, he attended and graduated from Bethlehem Business College. Louis retired from the Research Lab of Bethlehem Steel Co. after 35 years of service. He will also be fondly remembered for the joy that Christmas brought to him. Louis was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.

Louis will be dearly missed by his daughter, Jane Gonzalez and her husband, Roberto of Bethlehem; his grandchildren who he adored and was very involved with, Robert Louis, Victoria Elizabeth and Kristina Jane; as well as his sister, Gloria Hambor of Asbury Park, NJ and brother, Robert of Bethlehem. Louis was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Salvatore and his beloved beagle, Duke.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Monday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
