Louis N. Chiadis

September 25, 1932 — December 5, 2015

Louis N. Chiadis, 83, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in York, PA. He was born in Bethlehem, son of the late Nicholas and Irene (Skiriotis) Chiadis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vasilia (Vasiliadis) Chiadis.

Louis was a 1951 graduate of Liberty High School and earned his B.A. in Education from Rider College. He returned to Liberty High School where he was a teacher in the business department for his whole career. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed selling tickets for Liberty sporting events, where he was also a track and field official. Lou was not only a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, he loved to both tell and receive a good joke. He also served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. Lou was a faithful member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vasilia; son, Nicholas and wife, Katherine of Salisbury Twp.; daughter, Marion Bittner and husband, Mark of Red Lion, PA; sister, Helen Carthage; grandsons, Evan and Matthew Bittner; and his granddog, Rusty. He was predeceased by his siblings: Michael, Mary Pafudakis, Virginia Glicas and Pauline Gatanis.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Misericordia for the personal and special care provided to Lou for the past 6 years.

Services: Viewing from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 W. Union Blvd., Bethlehem; followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to the Capital Campaign c/o Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 998 S. Russell St., York, PA 17402.
