Louis Sinicz

Louis Sinicz, 99, of Bethlehem, died on Monday, May 13, 2013. He was born January 16, 1914 in Bethlehem, son of the late Frank and Katie (Horwath) Sinicz. Louis is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Theresa E. (Ruggiero) Sinicz.

Louis joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years prior to proudly serving in the US Navy from 1935 to 1939 and again from 1943 to 1945 as a 2nd class machinist mate. Louis served in the European and Pacific Theatres and enjoyed playing baseball while he was enlisted.

Louis worked as a Rigger at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 9 years prior to working as a dedicated postal carrier for 41 years. He earned a special award for never missing a day of work. He was a member of the National Assoc. of Letter Carriers.

Louis played semi pro baseball as a pitcher and played in several Lehigh Valley leagues. His passion for baseball continued as a little league and legion coach. He was also very influential in the development of the Bethlehem Babe Ruth League. Louis was a member of St. John's Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem. He was also a member of UNICO.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Theresa; son, Frank Louis Sinicz and his wife, Margaret Mary of Easton; daughter, Lois Ann Eilert and her husband Thomas of Norwich, CT; grandchildren, Francesca, Michele and Lori Ann; Great grandchildren, Racquelle, Michael, Gina, Kyle and Rhyess; step granddaughter, Heather; step great grandson, Brenden and great-great granddaughter, Irie. Louis was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Urello; sister, Ethel Torkos and brothers, Stephen and John.

A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6-8 PM and again on Friday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home. A service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at St. John's Windish Evangelical Church 617 E. Fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church and/ or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
