Lucina M. Beck

February 29, 1940 — July 15, 2017

Lucina M. Beck, 77, of Hanover Township, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 after over a 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the devoted wife of Darrell V. Beck for 25 years. Lucina was born on February 29, 1940 and was the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Pauley) Brensinger of R.D.1, Alburtis.

Lucina graduated from Kutztown Area High School in 1957. She was a secretary for 8 years at Air Products and Chemicals and 33 years at Bethlehem Steel Corporation, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, active on its Church Council and Stewardship Committee and a past volunteer at its West Bethlehem Emergency Food Pantry and Homeless Sheltering Program.

Lucina loved her family and friends and tried to spend as much time as she could with all of them. She particularly enjoyed attending her grandchildrens school activities. She also enjoyed traveling, baking, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, boating and her many lunches with former co-workers and friends.

In addition to her loving husband, Lucina is survived by her son, Scott A. Schwoyer and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Derek and Erika; sisters-in-law, Mary Mayberry and her husband Joseph, Cynthia Deppe and her husband Dean; brother-in-law, Dennis Beck and his wife Debra; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, John and Elton Brensinger; sister, Miriam Kline, their spouses; and a niece, Judy Kline.

The family wishes to thank the St. Lukes Hospital Oncology staff and Vita Medical Associates for their wonderful care, the Cancer Support Community for their great support, and everyone who so lovingly sent their many prayers, cards and gifts to Lucina during her illness.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 514 Third Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18018 at 11 a.m. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Interment will be private. Connell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in memory of Lucina to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 415 Crossways Park Dr., Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797.
