Lucy Virginia Wagner

Lucy Virginia Wagner, 90, of Fountain Hill, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Phoebe Home in Allentown. She was born January 19, 1926 in Bethlehem; daughter of the late Giovanni Batista and Lucia (Brita) Catalanotti. Lucy is survived by her devoted husband of over 62 years, Francis C. Wagner.

Lucy attended Liberty High School and was a 1946 graduate of St. Lukes Nursing School. She was formerly employed by St. Lukes Hospital in the Bethlehem Steel Ward, prior to serving as the office nurse for the late Dr. George Figlear. After raising her family, Lucy returned to nursing as the Evening Head Nurse at Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill Annex from which she retired in 1986. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Ursula Catholic Church. Lucy welcomed everyone into her home. She was happiest when sharing good food and conversation with family and friends. She enjoyed knitting beautiful afghans and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lucy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Francis; children, Patricia Gorzelic and her husband, Stanley of Bethlehem; Francene McIntyre and her husband, Jack of Bay Village, OH; Jacqueline Devenney and her husband, Robert of Yardley, PA and John David Wagner and his wife, Lynn of Phoenixville, PA; her nine grandchildren and her sister, Colleen Zito of Nazareth.

Lucy was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Wagner; sister, Angeline Stempo and brother, Matthew Catalanotti.

The Connell Funeral Home is honored to assist in arrangements. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill, PA 18015. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lukes Nursing School c/o Development Office, 801 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, PA 18015 and/or the charity of ones choice.
