Luisa Nuñez

Luisa Peralta Nuez, 77, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Born October 12, 1944, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Luis and Ana Rosa (Almonte) Peralta.

Following high school, Luisa went on to earn an Associates Degree in administration and accounting from Universidad de Santo Domingo.

Luisa spent the rest of her life making and raising a family of four children, along with her late husband Rafael, Sr. In her free time, she was an accomplished artist with the preferred medium of paint and canvas. She was also a talented poet, especially spoken-word poetry. Her gifts were lovely and plentiful.

Her family was her passion. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and entertaining. Luisa will be remembered for her magnetic personality, a great sense of humor, and her ability to make anyone comfortable in a social setting.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, Rafael A. Nuez, Sr., to whom she was very devoted, who died on September 2, 2000; one brother: Luis Osvaldo Peralta; and one sister: Rafaela Hernandez.

She will be lovingly remembered by one son: Rafael A. Nunez, Jr. (Yelesy); three daughters: Elizabeth Nuez (Amber), Marilyn Nuez (Ana Negron), and Maribel Meekins (Walter, II); two brothers: Luis Peralta and German Peralta: two sisters: Sonia Reyes (Roberto Guzman) and Rita Elana Peralta; eight grandchildren: Isaiah Nuez, Jeranfel Martinez (Sydney), Amaris Arzuaga, Enycia Raelle Nuez, Walter Meekins, III, Thaddaeus Meekins, Johnny Elas Nuez, and Rafael Antonio Nuez, III; one great-grandson: Gabriel Martinez; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 7:00pm-9:00pm. A second visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 8:30am-9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 East Fourth Street, Bethlehem.

Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Linden Street, Bethlehem.
