Madelyn M. Delker

Madelyn M. “Maggie” Delker, 74, of Bethlehem, died unexpectedly in her sleep on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born November 27, 1940, in Bethlehem; daughter of the late Vincent and Elizabeth (Balshi) Zahurak. Maggie is survived by her husband of over 45 years, Joseph F. Delker.

Maggie was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, class of 1958; and head of the reunion committee. Upon graduation, she attended West Chester University and earned her Masters degree from Lehigh University. After a long and rewarding career as a school teacher, Maggie retired from the Bethlehem Area School District. She started her career at Marvine Elementary School and retired from Governor Wolf. Maggie was also involved with many reading and development programs within the school district. Maggie loved the Eagles, her summertime Wildwood trips, playing the lottery and going to the casino.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Jennifer Repnyek of Hamburg; son, Joseph V. Delker and his girlfriend, Justine Tafolla of Freemansburg; sisters, Roberta Moyer and Veronica Dreisbach both of Bethlehem; three nieces and her “granddogs”, Eden, Vega, Fritz, Simba and Abbey who greeted her in heaven.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020, with another viewing from 9-9:45 AM at the church prior to mass.
